Wood mulch, used in roof top garden, on soil, provides good insulation for heat, and would be more comfortable,with green vegetation, compare to normal roofing, with tiles,and with better insulation too..

You can carry competitive indoor and outdoor temperature measurements for both bare roof and roof with green vegetation. This you can use to calculate thermal load for both the cases and efficiency (since you know the difference in thermal load also).

Roof top gardens are very effective insulation material for buildings because the plants have good albedo effect.
