A perfectly parked spherical balls will occupy approx 74% of a box, hence the maximum porosity will be about 26%. The level of porosity decreases with increasing temperature below the melting temperature of the alloy (With Inconel 625 as a case study). The interconnectivity of the porosity decreases with increasing temperature leading to increasing corrosion resistance.
Intermetallic phases usually are in grain boundaries and in another not suitable areas in cast. Nevertheless, in sintered alloys have a homogeneous distribution of particles, and the size of these are small.
In addition to what has been said, the sintered alloys usually have a higher content of oxygen or other impurities associated with surfaces.
