I’ve been measuring the response of type 1aA diamonds to 405 nm laser and have observed several different transmission spectra. Some have significant fluorscsince while others barely. Just wondering an I detecting lattice deformation?
Why do you associate luminescence with deformation? In most cases, there are many other reasons for luminescence in diamond. Look for main PL systems in " Optical Properties of Diamond: A Data Handbook" by A.Zaitsev
While there is an influence of deformations on fluorescence lines like included NV or SiV centers, Raman spectroscopy is the better tool to monitor the stress directly, see here:
