Maybe you can explain that the antibody recognizes amino acid sequences similar to other related cross-reactive proteins.

Analyzes sequence similarities with BLAST.

If you do not find similar sequences you are nonspecific binding and should try to minimize it with suitable buffers, raising the molarity, ionic strength and / or presence of detergents.
