Some papers say, smaller quantum dots are less crystalline in nature. Qualitative explanation is like smaller quantum dots have larger surface to volume ratio and hence they have more dangling bonds and defect states reducing their crystallinity. It would be helpful to get more technical explanations and discussions.
The relationship of the crystallinity of quantum dots with their size is not an object of application. You gave a high-quality feedback yourself. What can we talk about if the percentages of crystallinity and non-crystallinity are approximately the same. The object of application is the dependence of the optical property of dispersion on the size of quantum dots. For example, a dispersion of CdTe quantum dots with a size of 1 nm in water has a crossover of fluorescence intensity at 46 degrees Celsius, and with a size of 2 nm there is no crossover.
