I am working on a project with the goal of creating a slow release pill using a gel layer around the pill itself. I am trying to solve for the concentration profile for this using the general mass balance. My domain is R1 < r < R2. I believe that the concentration at the boundary condition would be a function of time at the inner boundary of the gel layer (R1) and the concentration at the outer surface of the gel layer (R2) would be 0 as the concentration would be negligible in the stomach acid. This way, I can simplify to steady state in the actual mass balance and account for the depletion of moles of the drug in the boundary condition and solve for the constants after integrating. I am having trouble working through this boundary value as a function of time, as I have never done problems like this in the past. I am wondering how I would get this function. Thank you!
