Hello,

I am currently getting accustomed in using the TA instruments Q1000 DSC to do specific heat capacity measurements of some solutions like glycerol, water and some other liquids. My operating range is -150C to 25C with a scan rate of 5 C/min.

I have used a Perkin Elmer Diamond DSC before which had the provision for calculating the Cp within the software by using empty pan and sapphire runs along with the sample runs.

I do not seem to find any such provision with the Universal Analysis software with TA.

Could someone please guide me about how the 3 run process can be applied in the Universal Analysis software to get the Cp ? I do not understand what processing is done with the three runs to get the final Cp Vs temperature values.

I have also heard about the direct Cp provision with this DSC where it gives the Cp in a single run. Has anyone used this method before ?

Sorry for the lengthy text.
