I know this is a basic question, but bear with me. I know I need to pH it to 8. My problem is knowing what type of solid EDTA to start with, and how much to use for a specific concentration.

Basically, what do I need to use for the molecular weight? When you see a stock solution sold at, say, 0.5M, is that 0.5M of JUST the EDTA portion, or did that start with the sodium salt and use ITS MW? I'm trying to start from the disodium salt, which has a MW of 336.21. Does that mean for a solution comparable to the 0.5M EDTA solution I would buy, I would use 168.105g/L, or do I need to take into account JUST the EDTA (without the sodium, or in the case of hydrated salt forms the waters of hydration)? That's going to make a pretty big difference, I would think.

Also, does anyone know how concentrated you can make a solution of EDTA? I'd like to make 1M or 2M, since I need a LOT of it in a solution that otherwise also has a bunch of other ingredients.
