Organotin waste means the waste materials containing tributyltin or other organotin compounds either idividually or in any combination used as antifouling agents in marine paints . It includes paint wastes produced during the painting of vessels with antifouling paints such as scrapping, washing, rinsing spillage, overspray, used containers, paint contaminated cleaning clothes, unwanted used applicators, brushes and spray equipments and unwanted containers of antifouling agents
THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION:
[I] REMOVAL OF ORGANOTIN WASTES:
Several commercially available adsorbents were screened for their ability to remove organotin compounds from both artificial contaminated and real dockyard waste water. A simple one is- AN ADSORPTION- FLOCCULATION PROCESS using a mixture of two adsorbents (a clay based adsorbent and a powdered activated carbon) was optimized for an optimal adsorbent and pollutant removal. At the optimal conditions, the process was evaluated with both artificial and real shipyard wastewater, and the cost of the adsorption-flocculation process with relation to different influent concentrations and discharge limits was estimated.
[II] ORGANOTIN WASTE DISPOSAL:
It is disposed in a CONTROLLED LANDFILL-which means an approved waste disposal site (for which a valid license is issued by the POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD/COMMISSION) involving dumping, compacting and covering the site with soil in a way that prevents/ minimizes any adverse effect on the environment.Containers of collected tin waste will be marked as
