After reviewing an excellent paper, I felt over the moon and enjoyed very much. I shared my thoughts and feeling on authors and editors section. I accepted the manuscript without revision. But ask the editor have a look for statistics if they feel it necessary. I praise the paper and congratulate the authors ( As it’s unpublished manuscript I would not mention the article title) It would be lovely to see your experiences and feelings. One of the authors has few more publications in that field and self citations made and I praised it and mentioned well deserved /earned. Please dont forget to mention how many papers you have reviewed so far and do you have Publons account? I like/love it as well.

I must say I am in the beginner stage, have reviewed only 10 manuscripts so far. 1 rejected , 9 accepted (if my memory serves me right 2 accepted as they are, rest minor revisions). I have also Publons account and find it quite useful.
Being a reviewer strengthened my authorship skills, recently one of my pieces ( letter) published in BMJ which is a high impact journal. My dream as an author, to publish a piece at Lancet. I hope I would be able to achieve my goal in the long run.

I feel grateful for the authors who I reviewed their works as well. At the end of the day, their work needs to be ship - shaped ( revised) if needed.
I also learn some points from their work. It works bilaterally.
It is also an ample opportunity to see a work in a raw form and helping give final shape along with the other reviewers and the editors.
I am not an experienced reviewer but I feel advancing in the right direction.
I will be an editorial board member for a journal soon Inshallah ( I already accepted the offer)
I feel I will ended up with an editor/ co-editor of a journal, if all works well.

It is a big responsibility! I enjoy it though. I have reviewed over 30 articles so far and I hope to keep doing it as I am learning a lot.
I completely understand your feeling regarding the excelent paper. So far the same happened to me once.
Paper was accepted by me and other reviewer " in the present form "☺
I reviewed over 50 papers, but in Publons I have 27, at this moment.
It's a great experience when you get a really good paper to review. When reviewing a paper that needs improvement I use the following strategy: firstly, I emphasize all the good things in the paper, and only after that I give critics and suggestions for improvements.

In the past I have been referee of about twenty different journals with a couple of hundred publications. I feel that in the mid 1960 scientists took more care in preparing their publications. At that time the proportion of excellent papers was greater than in the late 1990. Very often I found an inverse correlation between the number of publications of a given scientist and their quality in substance and presentation.
I have reviewed more than hundreds research papers in past 30 years. I simply enjoy to share my experience with authors.
I have not counted the number of papers I reviewed so far. The feeling while going through the intent and content of the research paper and while making comments, is how much I can learn in the first place may be based on the approach of the researchers concerned to address the given research problem probably as a grown up learner. Further, I feel honored to review and consider that I am growing in knowledge over the time and people consider myself as an authority in the said subject area.I feel also that I am bestowed upon by the opportunities to inspire and guide the upcoming researchers. A great feeling in itself.
