In some cities water mains are made of grey cast iron and may be 150 year old. Some of these pipe show sign of distress in the form of corrosion. These are huge assets and cannot be replaced quickly. A methodology is needed for the renewal process. There are a few methods available which are either based on strength or the crack propagation.
