In each scientific branch, we have a wide selection of journals to publishing our work. Today, we have over 55,000 of scientific journals. How do you cope with selecting a right journal? What tools do you use? (e.g. Web of Science and Impact Factor, etc.) How find the best journal to publish a specific manuscript. Any comments are welcome.
This question is directly relate to other RG questions about journal selection.
Briefly, the journal that you select for submission of your paper should have published at least one paper that you reference in your own paper. In other words, if the results in your paper either extend or are directly related to results in papers published in a particular journal, that journal would be the best one for you to consider in submitting your paper for publication.

The above suggestions by Prof. Peters make a lot of sense to me, work most of the time and are a good place to start. Some "high impact" journals at times feel they need to "block" out radically new ideas e.g. fuzzy logic a few decades back. The quality of the work seems to be disregarded and the editorial folk launch a "crusade" to crush what is different. This may be discouraging for some. So my advice is being aware of such trends is also good preparation and may impact one's decision making.

but it can be also useful.
To decide which journal is the best to publish my manuscript in, I should make sure of the following:
- the journal is recognized or has an impact factor.
- the subject of the manuscript match the journal's subject focus.
- is there is no or there is minimal publication charges.

Thank you for your answer. I know that this problem is commonly observed in society of young scientific workers. Many peoples say that the more important is the impact factor, but I fully agree with advices Prof. Peters and Prof. Cohen. Additionally, every person makes a decision based on his experience. Therefore, two persons can make a two different decision based on the same criteria. Journals with impact factor very often have a huge queue, and we sometimes must wait around the year. Some of them publish only manuscript of a person, which has at least one paper published there before (e.g. as co-author). Therefore, any advices are welcome.

I fill the subspeciality and make my search. I decide to which journal I will submit according to its SJR, Impact factor, processing fees and acceptance rate.
