In modelling laminated glass, that is a sandwich structure, glass taken as a shell element and the interlayer as a solid element, what is the correct way to assemle it?
It will depend upon what kind of analysis you are interested in. If you are analysing inter-laminar behaviour, then you will have to define proper contact conditions between shell and solid layers. If you assume they are perfectly bonded together, you can simply use tie constraint between both layers and go ahead for your analysis.
But are we supposed to tie the surfaces or tie the nodes on the surfaces? I made the glass and pvb layers as different parts. While assembling, since the thickness of shell is not visible, i have a doubt if it overlaps with the solid pvb layer or not. How can we ensure proper assembly?
