how do we test the presence of sclerotinia sclerotirum in the field? is there a rapid test that exists in the field as a preliminary before we go to the lab?

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum cannot be properly identified in the field by direct quick tests. The presence of this fungus can be determined by looking at the disease symptoms, such as black sclerotia or white, cottony fungal growth on diseased tissues. It can be impossible to distinguish between these symptoms and those brought on by other diseases, however. Accordingly, before establishing your decisions, a laboratory exam is required to confirm the occurrence of S. sclerotiorum.
