I obtained the nodal displacement values of (u1,u2,u3) from a bar in an analysis. I want to use these spatial displacement values as the boundary conditions for the undeformed instance of the bar in subsequent analysis. I tried using predefined fields (stress) but the bar does not deform as i expected. Is there a possibility of using doing this in abaqus?
I thought the mapped field could be used, but in CAE this feature does not work for displacement BCs. A way I see is to write displacements to the external ASCII file and use them to edit BCs in *.inp file (in any convenient program language). Also Python scripting can be used.
I will answer why "predefined" feature does not give the exact results.
Basically in first step (study) the fields are applied in an increasingly manner; at each local point the stress will rise from 0 to defiend value in 20 steps (lets say) with increasing linearly between the steps. This is not the actual behavior in which the model might have been deformed previously. Which leads to different values. You might have to define the actual behavior to deform the model exactly in 1st step / study.
