The samples that I make for TEM contain cells. I need them to be 70-90nm (no higher) to be able to see them clearly and do EDX as well. However, They begin to rip and flex under the beam even at 6000x. I have carbon coated before adding the samples to the copper grids and then afterward as well.

How do I increase protection of my samples so I can go to higher magnifications?

increase coating thickness? (mine is 2nm currently)

buy coated grids instead?
