I have been trying to model a reaction using LHHW kinetics in radfrac column but found that Radfrac does not recognize the LHHW kinetics. Please guide how I can incorporate (maybe using Fortran) or any other way.
The heterogeneous LHHW (Liquid Phase Heat and Material Balances) kinetic model in a liquid phase catalytic exchange column can be specified in Aspen Plus using the RADFRAC module. Here are the steps you can follow:
Create a new case in Aspen Plus and add a RADFRAC unit operation to the flowsheet.
Specify the kinetic model by selecting the "Kinetics" tab in the RADFRAC property view. Choose "User Kinetics" as the kinetic type and specify the reaction rate equation for the heterogeneous LHHW kinetic model.
Define the reaction rate coefficients and parameters. You can input these values directly in the "Reaction Rates" table, or you can create an external spreadsheet and link it to the Aspen Plus model.
In the "Operations" tab, specify the feed and product streams, and configure the column internals such as the number of trays, reflux ratio, and other parameters.
Run the simulation and analyze the results. The RADFRAC module provides various outputs such as conversion, selectivity, and reactor performance. You can use these outputs to optimize the column operation and design.
However, I did not find any options you mentioned "User Kinetics" for LHHW it only has the kinetic term provision, not for the adsorption and driving force term.
