Ok I understand how confusing could be something like what you experiment :

1. You have to be aware that GelJ is an independent platform software, as it is using Java, so it would work on Windows, Linux or Mac.

2. As for my precedent answer, your windows 10 is not a concern directly.

3. check that you have Java well installed.

4. when you download GelJ compressed archive, decompress it and check that the folder GelJv2 contain the gelj_v2.jar and the lib and other folders (these are also required for using the software)

5. lunch the application and proceed by creating a new user and then a new lab

I found the solution already with the help of Jonathan Heras. In case of anyone having the same problem, it turns out I need to open it in my desktop.

Move the GelJ folder to the desktop, then open that folder. In that folder, hold down the Shift key and right-click in a white area of the folder. The context menu will contain an entry called ‘Open command window here.”, select it. From that command window write: java -jar gelj_v2.jar and press intro.

This will start GelJ.
