I'm using Aspen Plus v8.6 and I'm facing the following issue:
I want to get the heat of reaction(combustion) in a reactor(Rstoic) block and when I use a calculator block for the air fuel ratio(λ=1) the result is a Q>0 which is incorrect.
On the other hand when I use a design specification to control the mass flow for stoichiometry the result that I have is correct and I can't understand the difference.
I have uploaded the file to help you understand what I mean.
Your gas stream contains CH4 and H2 which are combustibles and the calculator block considers CO only. It is better to use design spec with target parameters of minimal oxygen in exhaust stream. I generally use calculator block where calculations with general blocks of Aspen plus are not possible.
