We have constructed grids of abundance in different dates. We intend to model the spatial shift of abundance in time in a way that would allow comparisons between different species. The core task is to create paths/vectors that represent the spatial shift of raster-like quantities. ArcGIS, QGIS or R implemented algorithms?

I hope you are doing well. I 'm not sure if I understood well what you are trying to do. If you are interested about Species Distribution Modelling (SDM) the dismo and SSDM packages are very handy, for spatioTemporal analysis a good tool is the SpatioTemporal in R and if you want to conduct an interpolation (model based kriging) then look the geoR and geoRglm packages.
