I need to get proof that my book chapter was peer reviewed, so that I can get credit from my Institution for the work. However, the publisher is not responding and the editors have also not responded. Any tips on 'motivating' the publisher/editors to help me get the required proof?
Hi Neill - If you haven't tried already, perhaps a phone call might help. I've found it can be challenging sometimes to get someone's attention by email. A phone call and/or voicemail might help add a sense of urgency or empathy to your request. Best wishes!

I BET, your Chapter was NOT peer-reviewed, as the majority of the book chapters out these days even with Springer/Wiley (not sure about your publisher!) are not peer-reviewed at all. Unfortunate yet true. In my experience and experience of all academic friends- it's only a business from publishers these days. : (

Dear Neill Jurgens Goosen , I think you can try to find out who the editor is, as Dean Whitehead suggests and whether he or she is still working there.
But maybe the chapter is not peer reviewed as Biswapriya Biswavas Misra suggests, that's why they are not reacting. Keep trying and good luck.
We published several book chapters in leading publishers (Elsevier and CRC press). The corresponding author of the chapter received comments from the editor of the book. Book chapters are subjected to review process in the same manner to that of a journal article. You need to contact the editor of the book to obtain the comments. Currently many conference articles are published as book chapters in books dedicated to publish the whole conference proceedings (Ex. Lecture notes in so and so field). The convener of the conference is responsible to ensure peer review of each article before proceeding to publish as chapter. A peer review is mandatory for any form of academic publication (Journal/Conference/Book/Chapters/Patent etc.).If it is bypassed, the publication is certainly counted as predatory. Some publishers may ignore peer review for books due to business motive and expedite publication.
