I tried to do a post cycling XPS of a MnO/C li ion battery anode but the F signal is too strong and covers all the Mn signal. Any suggestions of a solvent or a compound I can rinse the electrode before taking xps? Thank you
Before doing the ex-situ XPS studies of the battery electrode, you need to clean the electrode surface using the solvent like DCM anhydrous and dry completely inside inert atmosphere.

Thank you very much for your suggestions Dr Braun and Dr Sarkar. Basically, it's not that the signals overlap with each other, it is just that the F one is so strong that when you do the high resolution scan for Mn it doesn't show peaks, just noise (although we know from XRD that Mn is still there). Low energy peaks are not there too. I will try with washing with DCM and see how it goes. Thank you again both
