If you want to use a direct injection fertigation system while irrigating, then you must test for the levels of your desired nutrients before the fertilizer solution reaches the plant, and after it has drained from the pot. To determine the point at which the plant is significantly deficient, use several treatments of complete fertilizer with only your nutrient in question changed from very low to very high quantities. if you grow samples with each fertilizer treatment, you should see optimum growth and that will be the closest thing to getting the plants' nutrient requirements without going through hydroponic techniques.
it depends on the procedure you use to add the nutrient. if it is solid, then it should be on weight of pot.if it is liquid, then the amount of liquid in mg-L added must bring the pot to field capacity.
Normally in pot culture nutrients are calculated on soil weight basis. However they may applied in solid or liquid form and mixed with soil.In case of horticultural plants, if the size of the pot is bigger, it can be filled on volume basis ,bulk density determined after uniform compaction /packing and weight can be calculated by multiplying volume with B.D.Then fertilizer or manure nutrients can be calculated on weight basis and applied.
You must test the desire nutrient and its levels before adding of the fertilizer in pot. Then the nutrient can be calculated on weight basis (mg/kg soil) and add in soil.
As we prefer estimation of nutrient removal on weight basis, so calculation of nutrient requirement of the soil should also be preferred on weight basis.
No doubt the strong information concerning this topic is needed for any researcher.
