First, we need to understand what is seed setting rate. I disagree with the word rate because the physical dimension is T-1. Thus, is difficult to calculate the rate. In my opinion, the response should be "percentage of seed setting". Thereafter is easy to calculate this percentage on the inflorescences based on survey methods within the population under analysis. Fruit-like seeds plus empty flowers represent 100%.
I agree with Dr. José. It is better that you calculate percentage index. One of my students worked on Marigold and we found that ornamental plants have different seed setting prrcentage compared Medicinal one.
