we did a catalytic reaction using cellulose as reactant, and the product is used to be analysed by liquid chromatography with RI-detector, however the detector is in not good condition (sometimes give out a well response/signal or none). Do you any suggestion other detector that can be used to analyse the product of Cellulose-conversion, such as sucrose,fructose, mannitol, sorbitol, and xylitol. thanks

We often use TLC for semi-quantitative analysis and initial qualitative analysis of mono- and oligo-saccharides. I would start with silica gel 60 plates, and multiple ascents in 90% acetonitrile/10% water. The attached paper gives an excellent detection reagent for carbohydrates.
