i am doing a research on speech articulation using EEG wave patterns and i wish to acquire EEG data from the brain that is peculiar to speech: the lead systems, the vantage points and the electrodes to take into consideration
The left frontal lobe region of the brain is mostly responsible for speech understanding. I would suggest placing electrodes in the Fp1, F7, F3 locations in the standard 10-20 eeg configuration. Then you may begin by analyzing the signal in the frequency region of interest, the Gamma waves (frequency > 30 Hz) etc.
Brodmann's area related to speech is 20, 22, 23, 26, 29-31, 38, 47( Refer Eric R. Kandel, James H. Schwartz, et al, Principles of Neural Science) . The electrode F-7. is connected to the area 47, electrode T-3 to area 22, T-5/A-1 connected to area 20 etc.
