Aims Neuroscience is requesting paper submissions for our inaugural issue next March. Manuscripts will need to be received by January 28, 2014, and decisions on acceptance will be completed by February 28. One of the topics is related to the possible mechanisms by which gamma frequency oscillations and NMDA receptors are involved in cognitive processing. Additionally, evidence has suggested these are in some way associated with disorders such as schizophrenia and autistic spectrum disorders. What are the possible mechanisms that can best explain how this happens? In addition to paper submissions, we encourage everyone with related information to make comments in response to the question here.

AIMS Neuroscience has published three articles and are currently awaiting author commentaries on this topic. We are asking for commentaries on these articles with emphasis on discussion that facilitates advances in theory and related research. As a general guideline we suggest limiting this to around 2000 words, but we are open to a longer commentary if it is necessary to communicate important points. We prefer to keep these positively worded and encourage authors to make specific suggestions on research studies that can provide resolution on any conflicting areas. Commentaries are subject to editorial review. In some cases, we may also ask article authors to assist in selecting those commentaries that provide the best ideas. We plan to publish up to five commentaries. We ask that these be submitted within the next 4 weeks.
The first two of three accepted commentaries has been published. The other will be there later this week.

There is now an additional commentary and an introduction published as of yesterday. The entire special series is posted at the attached link. I believe this series of papers is an excellent example of our journal's mission.
