We are looking for topics of interest in neuroscience that we can include in our journal. For those topics we will issue a call for paper submissions. Please keep in mind that our emphasis is on theory. Additionally, we have Registered Reports through our journal to assist with sound research design on planned studies.

As you know, my research is mainly focused on the theoretical functioning of the psyche, with a very well grounded neurobiological basis. My suggestion then is the inclusion of issues to better understand the structure and psychical function.
Hi Dante, Muhammad, and Dineshen. Sorry for the delay in my response, but I have been extremely busy with my new position. Dante, would something along the lines of a topic on the brain structures and mechanisms of conscious versus unconscious behavioral functioning fit what you are suggesting? Muhammad, perhaps we could consider a more general topic on the brain mechanisms of personality, such as has been started with research on such aspects of the Big 5 constructs. Dineshen, I am not quite sure how to put the mental fatigue question into one that will lead to submissions of manuscripts. Could you or others help in making this a more specific question? Bob
Dear Bob,
effectively, my proposal is that much of the psychic activity enabled by brain structures and mechanisms is unconscious. The consciousness and all its manifestations are a direct result of this 'hidden' activity. Today much progress has been made in the identification of regulatory mechanisms and control of psychical activity, therefore, we may be able to explain, from a subjective point of view, the implication of these mechanisms in normal and pathological functioning.

There has now been a new question posted with a call for papers on the personality neuroscience topic.
If you allow me to still contribute to this round of your question I'd like to suggest research into the relationship between mental processes and the physical environment. Narrowing down this broad question I'd propose dysfunctional relationships with a focus on autism. (No coincidence of course to arrive at my own subject: architectural design and autism.) The practical relevance is the certainty that the built environment does affect many on the autism spectrum and most probably is of great consequence for their Quality of Life. The theoretical relevance is the broadening of the understanding of the interplay between known autistic neuro-physiological deficits and those pertaining to the experience of the physical environment.
To narrow this subject down some more, one could limit the research to sound/noise.
Unfortunately this field still lacks a theoretical base and empirical studies are extremely scarce. See here: http://goo.gl/eS9yhn. To my knowledge only one (limited and very promising) experiment has been conducted into this. It is high time others are added.

Perhaps we could do something tied to neuroscience and autism later this year. I had not considered that area. I will let you know if we post a special topic related to the area and thank you.
