How could politicians and scientists better work together to address issues in our world? For example, can Researchgate provide opportunities for politicians to get involved in some sort of discussion forum for a specific issue to exchange information and ideas between researchers and politicians?
The volume of research greatly exceeds its application in practice: one the one hand, policy makers may be driven by the Five S’s of speed, superficiality, spin, secrecy, and scientific ignorance; on the other, researchers must pay greater attention to the production of their research findings in a flexible range of formats in recognition of the varied needs of consumers.

for your points! Yes, I do agree with you. May some sorts of changes be introduced for the future of our world, for example, by having a President or a Prime Minister of Science besides the current President or Prime Minister of Politics, both voted by the people, and they two together run a country?Because, in the current situation, politics are driving science for the most part and thus it may raise the voices of one side of scientists who may benefit the politicians and their political agenda.
Yes, It's a very complicated situation. One thing that became clear is that the "Fear" of something that is just a hypothesis or a wrong prediction, not to necessarily turn out true in the future, is driving politicians' minds and decisions very often. For example, fear of food scarcity on earth, fear of sea level rise, fear of overpopulated earth, and so on.
To work together, politicians and scientists have to first believe that they need each other and thus have to understand each others role. I understand that both have replaceable role by the other party and so their role complement each other for their common goal to be successful.
