I have a hydrophobic drug with known molecular weight and drug solubility in an organic solvent. I want to print a biodegradable scaffold embedded with the drug and culture cells on it for as long as 21 days. I want to know how many days can this drug be sustained within the scaffold, in other words, the retention time for the drug within the matrix. Or how can I have a gradual release of the drug without having to encapsulate it.

The diffusion coefficient (D) is dependent on the size of the solute molecule and the viscosity of the solvent as described by the Stokes-Einstein equation and other models. See the articles attached. I hope they help.
