I am looking for D-Mannose coated microparticles in size roughly around 3-5um so I can attach e.coli cells. One I found was 50-150um D-Mannose Agarose beads but they are too big for my purpose.
If such particle is not commercially available, I am willing to synthesize them but I have no experience nor knowledge. How could I crosslink D-Mannose on polystyrene (or other material) micro-particles? I am grateful if you could let me know what kind of surface-modified particles I should buy so the protocol is as easy as just few steps of mixing with D-Mannose and washing.

Maybe I could get epoxy-coated beads and react those epoxy with hydroxyl group on D-Mannose?
Or maybe I could get amine-coated beads and attack those amine with activated hydroxyl group on D-Mannose? But I am not sure if such reactions will activate all of hydroxyl group on D-Mannose and will be a bad idea...
For the reaction, epoxy and hydroxyl is much better choice than amine and hydroxyl group.
