On 24 August 2017, I submitted a manuscript to A JOURNAL WITH AN IMPACT FACTOR OF MORE THAN 2.0. Four months later, the manuscript status was under review. I felt this was enough for the journal to produce a decision. Then I sent them an email very politely asking when I should expect an update. I sent this email to the handling editor and also to the editorial office. But never received a response. A week ago, i.e., after about SEVEN MONTHS of submission, I sent another email to the journal also very politely, to ask for an update. Again no response.

Now I am thinking of withdrawing the MS, but if I do so, how can I be sure that they read my email of withdrawal?

And if I keep waiting, how long will it take to receive a decision? and what will be the decision? I mean it could be a reject and then I will have go somewhere else.

Any suggestions to relief that agony?
