I am a member of a research team that ferry on the sequencing of a local cattle population of North Africa called "the Brown Atlas" on the Algerian territory, the target sample for this reche is 500 people for three many regions distinguished the eastern part, central and west.
I wanted to be having is that the sampling is the same in terms of size for small ruminants, we are talking about sheep, How can you identify or know the feasible sample size for this study? .

there is no particular rule for sample size, most recommendations are just a rule of thumb, but it is preferable to be big and don't forget that the sample size depends on population size.

In my opinion perhaps you are not right. If the universe if homogeneous, than a samll sample could be enough. But if you have lots of different characteristics than you need a biger sample.
