I want to conduct FISH for some genes of my interest, and I need to determine whether I'll need probes for normal or extra sensitivity (which are more expensive than the normal ones).

I've started researching about the expression levels of my interest, and usually find ideas of concentrations in pg/ml, CPM or FPKM, but I have no idea how to translate that into an actual measure of sensitivity needed.

Anyone with experience who can tell? Or this is just a shot in the dark? I'd go for the high sensitivity for all of them but I need to keep it cost-effective as well.

Cheers,
