I am trying to seek implicit relationship between moment capacity of beam to its eigen parameters typically natural frequencies. Both depend on the stiffness, hence are related. However moment capacity is local parameter i.e. for a section and the eigen frequency is global parameter for whole beam.. Comments please.
The natural frequencies are a function of the elastic properties of the beam whilst the moment capacity (the moment to develop a plastic hinge) is a function of the plastic properties of the beam. Maybe you are looking at predicting proximity to failure for a beam by measuring its natural frequencies? The phenomenon of interest here might be stress stiffening where the frequencies will change as the beam if loaded...
That's right just for linear systems, when speaking on eigenvalues.
