Well, actually graphene is obtained from graphene oxide, NOT vice versa! We oxidize graphite via different methods, which I personally have used modified hummers' method (Chem. Mater. 2010, 22, 1392–1401), then you can reduce graphene oxide to get graphene. You can find the reduction procedure in the mentioned paper.
