When we are making Compacted circular or Sector shaped Aluminium conductor, due to stranding effect and compaction process, the resistivity of Aluminum increases approximately by 1 to 1.5%, how we can minimize this effect. This is mainly due to the work hardening at the time of compaction.
As I explained in my question, the resistivity of Aluminium deteriorates because of compaction process. Compaction is required to have reduced cables dimensions at each manufacturing stage thereby reducing the raw material consumption at various manufacturing stage of cables and it also helps in achieving smaller cables diameter, less cables weight.
We can improve resistivity of Aluminium by annealing of wires before stranding or annealing of finished conductor. By having annealed wires, the wires can be compacted easily without much work hardening. If there is any study/research available on this subject, it will be very helpful to find out below questions:
1) Optimum resistivity of Aluminum, which we can achieve
2) What is optimum temperature and duration of Annealing of Aluminum wires/final conductor
3) What is the optimum level of compaction to get best resistivity
4) Is there any other method available, to improve the resistivity of Aluminium (for example adding some chemicals during compaction)
5) Work hardening also happens during wire drawing (i.e. to convert 9.5 mm AL rod in to the AL wires of required wire size by passing through the rods from set of wires die) process also. This process also increases the resistivity of Aluminium. To optimize resistivity in this process also.
