How can we assess disease severity and disease incidence of citrus canker and citrus greening disease
You need to establish a sampling area. For the incidence is determined how many trees have symptoms of disease and to determine the severity need to build a table of severity, depending on the level of damage that can achieve the disease in field.
Two different kind of approaches can be used to record citrus canker incidence and severity. For instance, to record citrus canker incidence, just count the number of citrus plants infected over a given population, then find it out using the prescribed formula. Or for a respective test plant, count the number of infected leaves over total number of leaves and find it out using formula. In case of severity, measure the amount of leave area infected by disease. These days, video image analysis or leaf area meter can be used for accurate reading. Or follow any previously developed citrus canker scale like (Horsfall and Heuberger, 1942). Similar approaches can be used for citrus greening disease.
