Plasmonics is the collective oscillations of electrons in the metal nanostructures. These collective oscillation produces a high intense oscillating electric field near the surface of metal nanostructure.
Even though this is plasmonics, why and how this near field plasmonic is explained by scattering mechanism in larger nanoparticles (eg, Ag > 50 nm)
According to the Mie theory the scattering of electromagnetic waves caused by a homogeneous spherical particles occurs when the diameter of the grain equal to the wavelength incident and scattering two type elastic, non-elastic scattering
