Glycerol carbonate can be analysis using RI detector with C-18 column. It is universal detector. By using RI detector polar and non-polar compounds can be identified. In your sample contains glycerol carbonate. It is polar but saturated. UV-Vis detector can be identified only unsaturated compounds.
You can also use a ELSD detector. It gives a good response for glycerol and it's universal. But it also uses lots of nitrogen. And one more advice, if you want to use a C-18 column you will have to use a very apolar solvent mixture, because if you don't, the glycerol will not interact well with the column, try using 70% hexane and 30% isopropanol, if the retention time is too low, increase the amount of hexene.
The mobile phase you mentioned above is only for the detection of glycerol on C-18 column or it can work with glycerol carbonate as well?? @ Eduardo Maurina Morais
