Hello, I want to investigate the effect of substrate on the near field scattering of the nanosphere by using the Mie theory. does Mie theory allow us? Can anyone help me to solve this issue? What can be the other rigorous approaches regarding study this effect? I know we can do this by using FDTD and FEM approaches but they are not so accurate. Can anyone suggest any accurate numerical approach???
Mie theory deals with the scattering of electromagnetic radiation (light) from a homogeneous sphere. You can explore its use in an excellent freeware program called MiePlot by Philip Laven. See also:

The modeling that is described in this paper applies also well to nanopheres.

As an accurate code for a substrate you can use T-matrix (see Adrian Doicu) or DSM code (Yuri Eremin). There are several papers on my page in the ResearchGate. In the frame of the DSM you can estimate the numerical results accuracy as well.
