Virtual reality (VR) is a new technique. It is still in experimental stages in Radiology and imaging. It is mainly used to see and analyse the DICOM images on a tablet or mobile phone. VR can be as useful in Pediatric Radiology as in other sub specialties of Radiology. This technique may be utilized to read the fetal/infant brain MRI images on mobile phones and tablets.
VR in Radiology mainly involves 3D volume reconstruction from the set of 2D slices, virtually slicing them in any arbitrary directions or mutually perpendicular directions for locating the abnormality within the anatomy.
