How can the fitness of membership function to fuzzy PID controller be determined during Genetic Algorithm Optimization?

I have been working to tune the parameters of PID controller using fuzzy variables and Genetic Algorithm for the optimization of membership functions. In determining the fitness function to obtain optimal values of error, del error, how can IAE (Integral Absolute Error) be used in each step of iteration?
