Research findings are communicated in the academic domain through seminars, conferences, workshops and so on. How can a researcher deliver a good academic oral presentations at any of these?
To be simple in its proposal according to the ethics. The most important are the cycles of thought between the (Results and Discussion) and the literature review in the introduction. Best regards
According to my style in this area, it is preferred that to follow these points after introducing your self to the audiences :
1- Introduction which contains the general information about your subject and what are you trying to do.
2- Cmoperheninsive table of contents.
3- Summary or Abstract which contains the title, problem statement, your hypothesis, your scientific approach to proof this hypothesis, the main findings.
First Presentation is not news casting! Direct to point. Like Nabeel said, more emphasis on result and discussion.
Presentations slide or posters should be kept brief. The presenter should master his or her work. 5-7, or at most 10 slides is enough. Pictorial demonstrations, practical demonstrations makes a good presentation.
Dear Chukwuebuka Egbuna I do not agree with you to directly engage in the results and discuss them may not give a careful imagination of the subject,
It is best to have a brief introduction explaining the subject as well as a simple and clear overview of the main points about the work methods and then the results, especially the distinguished results and discussed in a good scientific manner.
There are certain steps, to prepare the lecture and prepare oneself to answer all the questions that may be raised by students, to list certain tips about the topic and print them to be presented in a data-show form , raise certain questions to see to what degree the presentation was useful and finally to make a kind of open discussion.
Then fill in these slides the appropriate material that should be attractive and short not lengthy and boring to audience verbally expresses where required further information dont put A-Z in slide
Concentrate on audience not on the screen board
These things will make you able to present your work in best way if any further help required you can ask
Yes I agree with my learned colleagues. In addition, the audience you are making your presentation also matters. The ultimate of oral presentation of research is to make your findings simple enough to be understood by your audience so as to appreciate the work done.
I think there are no specifications as the to rules for good presentations at academic fora like conferences, workshops, seminars etc, rather than the presenter having a total grasp of the subject matter, eloquent, confident, and simple devoid of too much technicalities, so that he/she can be understood by the majority of participants. Although it can also depend on the type of participants! Thank you.
Dear Chalamala Srinivas, thank you for this elaborate and useful links to this discussion. It very wonderful having these feedback from you sir, really appreciate it.
Before deciding the academic presentation either in conference or seminar one should himself view study ,performance & the development of the participant members so that it may facilitated to offer justice to the participant member with the feeling that they have gain something new in the presentation .
Before attending to the program even though if we may have an academic excellence & knowledge of the topic we have to certainly face our fragrance in our knowledge by contemplating & studying & topic so that the participant may take the advantage on the performance of the topic .
