I know how to calculate areal loading or mass of Li anode (because Li is fabricated commercially as foils with known thicknesses (µm)) as follows

0.1*Density*Thickness

where

thickness is given in µm

For cathode should I calculate it the same way? In that case if I use density of cathode active material the thickness still includes other materials such as binders and electronic conductors. How to account for them? Or should I use weighted density of total cathode including everything?

Or should I calculate areal mass or loading by calculating percentage of cathode active material and divide it by calculated area of coating?

Clear and concise answers would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
