Due to the absence of Impact Factors, Computer Science conference proceedings are not well recognised in some universities or countries. What can be done to enable a smooth transition of impact factors for all previous and future publications?
if the conference is held at regular intervals of time and the proceedings are published regularly, then you can calculate its impact factor on the similar lines as that of journals. suppose you want to calculate the impact factor of the proceedings for 2016 (let it be on two year basis), then you simply have to work out the number of articles published in proceedings during 2014 & 2015 and the number of citations received by these articles in the year 2016. that will be the impact factor of the proceeding for that year.
Let there be 50 citations received by the 150 articles in 2016 published in two issues of the proceedings in 2014 & 2015, the impact factor will be 50/150= 0.33
