Pantheism views life and nature as God. When scientists describe ecology and a number of biological processes, they will the gaps in their explanation by "nature", "nature has its way of doing things", etc
You can find this idea in all ancient religions but the most famous are the Greek creed – look the greek philosophers! The basis may be the deepest religious feelings of the ancient Greek consciousness that came from the mysterious life of the surrounding nature, and not only life, but also understanding and science, not only spirituality but also divinity.
The word life should be understood not only in the sense in which we usually oppose the wildlife, i.e. the organic world as opposed to the inorganic realm of minerals. Carl Linnaeus showed that they are like equal in “rights”! For the Greek consciousness it wasn’t: she was all life, all spirit, all — divine. Not only in their meadows and forests, its springs and rivers — it was divine also and rippling surface of seas, and in the motionless silence of their mountains and austere deserts.
"Her most imperishable source of all these separate lives – the great mother Earth. Her worship amongst the white cliffs - she is the Queen of mountains, the secret of eternal life, the mother of Zeus (Sophocles)".
Ancient Hellene saw and felt God in Nature, in yellowing the field, in the blue seas and in azure of sky. He surrounded himself and his human life a whole host of natural deities, the gentle, the formidable, but always sympathetic and comfortable. More importantly, he was able to enter into spiritual communion with this world.
in Encyclopedia look, please, the chapter of Sponsel Spiritual ecology. He has the book as well, but Chapter is enough to understand question. Book cover is perfectly illustrated by photo from Angkor Tom in Cambodia. I felt it in the same place - in Angkor - I mean the Spirit of Nature!
I have a lot of literature in Russian, esp in Nature conservation modern approaches... A lot of books were translated into Russian/Uklrainian due to V. Boreyko efforts...
Scientists have different religious views. Often saying "nature has its logic" they mean the god they believe in (including abraamic god or different so called pagan gods). It is not always about pantheism. Atheists and agnostics usually saying "nature" mean no god, there are scientists who actually believe that godless nature is a complicated system like computer that is logically working by itself.
