Hello, I am recently doing research on the value of 'behind-the-scenes' to Scottish Ballet which tends to use a digital platform to distribute different form of contents to attract public attention. Under that situation, in order to deeply understand and classify those contents, and to select which content can be categorized to 'behind-the-scenes'. I plan to use content analysis as my research methods. However, Due to too many resources, I don't know how to choose the period of my data to analysis. And I am also confused about how to analysis videos...... someone help me?
First of all, I want to answer your question: choosing the period of my data to analysis.
I think there could be different options:
- you can choose a period that starts from an event that is particularly important to the research object and then you can analyze all the videos since this date;
- you can choose some videos according to suitable sample criteria.
Obviously, it depends on the fact that you want to do a qualitative analysis or to go further, for somewhat reason, with a quantitative approach.
Second, how to analyze video is a great question.
You can consider transcripts as data and analyze them as a written text, but you can analyze iconic respects, and other aspects of the video.
