I want to synchronize the normal and cancer liver cells in G1 phase. Can lovastatin and serum deprivation methods be used for synchronization of the hepatocytes? Can anybody help me with the protocols for the same?
I advice you try with serum deprivation, because with this step your cells have less nutritional components to growth or continue several biological processes.
Hello, Gabriela! In Brazil, the nickname for your name is "Gabi", did you know? Well, methods for synchronizing cells may includes those based on morphological features of the cell (mitotic shake-off), cellular metabolism (thymidine inhibition, isoleucine depravation), and chemical inhibitors of cell progression in G1 (lovastatin), S (aphidicolin, mimosine), etc. You talk in lovastatin. The use of lovastatin as inhibitor of cell progression in G1, can be an intersting tool to your hepatocytes culture. References you can see at: http://dx.doi.org/10.4161/cc.6364 . Hugs, good luck/good job!
