Hi Ahmed

If you are looking for an open source FE code, CrunchiX (Calculix is the Pre/Post) is one alternative. At the time, I got stuck on some issues though, e.g. that the solver was/is? limited in dofs unless you run SGI. It does have some cool things in there, e.g. handling of flow.

If you want a more general FE code. Take a look at Code Aster. Its documentation is excellent.
